Pip grows older and is now years old.During one rainy night,pip hears footsteps outside his apartment.Outside is an old man who pip finds out that the man is Pip’s convict.The man tells pip about is story and how he made a great amount of money in his time in Australia from being a shepeard .The convict was touched when pip helped him out when he was a little boy out in the marshes.Therefore gives Pip all the most of the money he earned. Pip realizes that he is the secret benefactor,not Ms Havisham and this means that he isnt getting the money because of marrying Estella. The convicts name is Magwitch but he decides make himself a new name for himself for pip which is uncle Provis

Chapter 40 – While at Pip’s house a shadowy man is nearby. Pip and Magwitch return but he is gone. Magwitch decides to give pip his name as Uncle Provis so Pip’s servants (Landlord)don’t find out the truth.Pip then disguises himself to see if this is the truth by seeing my Jagger’s.Pip wants to keep magwitch safe
